Clear

I had a good discussion with a friend today about where is Hawaiki/ Some say India, Fiji, Marquesas, Tahiti, Samoa, Hawaii, China, South America, Cook Islands, Tonga, Rapanui, Peru,

Kupe is assumed to have followed the path of the kuaka on his journey to Aotearoa. For Maori the kuaka were birds of mystery. They feature prominently in our mythology. It was believed that they came from, or at least passed through, the ancestral home, Hawaiki.

The Pacific triangle from Hawaii to Rapanui then to Aotearoa with all the Islands that are in this triangle are the Polynesians. Similarities in our languages, stories and traditions. We as Maori carried on and landed here in Aotearoa. I believe we came from the South Americas where the sweet potatoe (kumara) comes from.

A very good interesting study to get into.
