I feel for the families in Samoa that lost 2 of their babies shortly after been immunised. It is very sad that has happened. I am sure they will be investigating if the vaccination was contaminated.
I watched Native Affairs on Maori TV and totally agree with Dr Lance O’Sullivan that all parents should be responsible and have their children immunised so that it will protect them from serious diseases throughout their life.
Childhood immunisation coverage information from the National Immunisation Register (NIR) shows that in 2014, at the age of 8 months, 88.9% of Māori children had completed age-appropriate immunisations, compared with 91.9% of total New Zealand children. By 2 years of age, the coverage rates were 91.9% for Māori children and 92.8% for total New Zealand children.
Our children do need to be immunised.
